AI homework help that does not do the homework
Students already have AI homework help. The question is no longer whether to allow it, but what shape of help you are willing to defend at a parent meeting.
Nearpod prints its teacher prices and marks every school quote confidential. Board documents from nine school systems show what districts actually pay.

Short answer: Nearpod's teacher plans cost $159 a year (Gold) and $397 a year (Platinum), and the Silver plan has no charge with a 40-student cap. Schools and districts pay by quote. On the public district quotes we read, Nearpod Premium Plus came to about $3 to $7 per student a year, with add-ons such as Flocabulary and the 21st Century Readiness collection priced on top.
Nearpod publishes its teacher prices and hides the school price behind a "request a quote" button. Every quote it sends even says the price is confidential "unless disclosure is required by subpoena or state law". State law does require it for most public boards, so the numbers sit in board agendas and purchase approvals. We read eleven of those documents in full from nine school systems, plus Utah's statewide price sheet, and checked Nearpod's own pricing page on October 9, 2026. Coeducate is not affiliated with Nearpod or Renaissance. We sell a different product, and a section near the end says plainly when Nearpod is the better buy.
These are the plans Nearpod lists for a US teacher today. There is no monthly price. Individual plans are billed once a year.
| Plan | Price | Storage | Students per lesson |
|---|---|---|---|
| Silver | No charge | 300 MB | 40 |
| Gold | $159 a year | 1 GB | 75 |
| Platinum | $397 a year | 5 GB | 90 |
| School and District | Quote only | Unlimited | 250 |
Gold adds the AI question generator, the Google Slides add-on, Drag and Drop, several live sessions at once and sub plans. Platinum adds student notes. The School and District tier is where the things a principal cares about live: full AI lesson creation, shared school and district libraries, student accounts, admin reports and dashboards, LMS and rostering integrations, a customer success manager, and the Nearpod Math and Social Studies programs. If a teacher already pays for Gold or Platinum and the school buys a license with six or more months left on that plan, Nearpod refunds the remainder.
District licenses are priced per student per year, usually under the name Premium Plus. The table lists every quote where the student count is on the document, so the per-student math is ours but the inputs are theirs.
| School system | Term | Students | Premium Plus total | Per student a year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| California Connections Academy Southern California (virtual charter) | 2023-24 | 8,500 | $26,450 (list $50,150) | $3.11 |
| Polk County, Florida | Dec 2021 to Nov 2024, 3 years | 75,000 | $860,625 (list $1,012,500) | $3.83 |
| Durham Public Schools, North Carolina | 2022-23 | 25,590 | $120,591.75 (list $134,347.50) | $4.71 |
| Yonkers, New York (quote 226273, from the search index) | 2024-25 | 20,000 | $99,480 | $4.97 |
| Buffalo, New York | 2022-23 | 30,000 | $164,402.58 | $5.48 |
| Carroll County, Kentucky | 2022-23 | 1,900 | $12,414.60 (list $17,000) | $6.53 |
| Dixon Unified, California (first-year pilot) | 2021-22 | 3,000 | $7,500 | $2.50 |
Two patterns stand out. Size matters, but less than you would think: the 1,900-student Kentucky district paid about twice the per-student rate of the 75,000-student Florida district, while Durham at 25,590 students paid less than Buffalo at 30,000. Discounts did more work than enrollment. List prices on these quotes sit around $4.50 to $8.95 per student, and the net price depended on how hard the district negotiated, how many years it signed and whether it bought through a co-op. Buffalo bought on the TIPS cooperative contract.
Several large buyers did not put a student count on the page, so they are not in the table: Downingtown, Pennsylvania paid $80,000 for 2024-25, Christina School District in Delaware paid $105,000 for 2024-25 including the 21st Century Readiness collection, and Rockford, Illinois approved $294,500 for one year in August 2024, which its memo tied to more than 1,200 active teachers (about $245 per teacher).
The platform line is rarely the whole quote. The add-ons below appeared on the documents we read, and Utah's statewide price sheet gives the cleanest per-student list.
| Add-on | What it is | Price seen |
|---|---|---|
| Flocabulary Plus | Hip-hop video lessons for vocabulary and content | $2 per student (Utah); $2.28 net (Connections Academy); $7,650 list site license (Carroll County) |
| Nearpod EL | English learner lessons and supports | $2.30 per student (Utah); $22 per EL student (Connections Academy, 300 students) |
| 21st Century Readiness | Digital citizenship, SEL, college and career, financial literacy | $1.60 per student (Utah); $27,253.79 (Christina, 2024-25) |
| Bundle of the three above | Flocabulary Plus, Nearpod EL and 21st Century | $5 per student (Utah) |
| Nearpod Math | Core and intervention math lessons, priced on K-8 enrollment | $28,356 net for 8,500 students, $3.34 each (Connections Academy, 2023) |
| Professional development | Online or onsite training sessions | From $450 per online session |
Add-ons are why the same district can show two very different totals. Buffalo's Premium Plus line was $164,402.58, but the full order with four Premium Collections came to $245,837.36, about $8.19 per student. Savannah-Chatham in Georgia approved $267,442.96 for Nearpod Premium plus Flocabulary Plus for 2023-24, then $304,108.80 for 2025-26 across 51 schools, roughly $5,963 per school and a 14 percent rise over two years.
One change is worth checking against any older quote you have. In 2023 Nearpod Math was a separate line priced on K-8 enrollment. Nearpod's pricing page now lists the Math and Social Studies programs inside the School and District tier. Ask your rep whether that is true for your renewal, or whether the program is still quoted separately.
Using the quotes above, here is a planning range. It is not a price Nearpod has offered anyone, and your quote can land outside it.
| Buyer | Teacher plans only | Premium Plus, low to high | With Flocabulary, EL and 21st Century at Utah rates |
|---|---|---|---|
| One school, 600 students, 30 teachers | $4,770 (30 x Gold) to $11,910 (30 x Platinum) | $3,150 to $3,918 a year | add about $3,000 |
| District, 10,000 students | Not realistic | $31,100 to $55,000 a year | add about $50,000 |
The school row makes the main point: once more than about 20 to 25 teachers want Gold, a school license costs less than the individual plans and adds the admin reports. The low end of the school range assumes a smaller buyer can get near the $5.25 list rate. Carroll County's $6.53 at 1,900 students suggests a single school should budget toward the top.
Yes, the Silver plan has no charge. It caps each lesson at 40 students, gives 300 MB of storage and includes the Nearpod library and the basic formative assessment activities. Most teachers outgrow it on storage or on the missing Gold features, and that is the point at which the school license conversation usually starts.
Utah is the exception at state level. Its education network's Nearpod request sheet listed Premium Plus, Nearpod Math and Nearpod Social Studies at no cost to schools, paid by the state network, with the add-ons billed per student. Public posts on the state's software advisory list from 2026 show that arrangement under review, so Utah schools should confirm the current terms before budgeting.
Renaissance Learning bought Nearpod in 2021 for about $650 million, and since 2025 board items name Renaissance Learning as the vendor. That matters at renewal, because Renaissance also sells Star, Accelerated Reader and eduCLIMBER, and it bundles. Alum Rock in California approved a $148,458 Renaissance bundle for 2025-26 that included Nearpod without pricing it on its own line. If you also run Accelerated Reader, expect the renewal to come as one package.
Most of these quotes require a signature and a purchase order before the term starts. If your business office still prints and scans them, you can send the signed quote and the data privacy agreement for e-signature and keep both in one place for the next renewal.
Nearpod is a lesson delivery platform. A teacher pushes slides, polls, videos and activities to every screen and sees the class's responses live. It is very good at engagement and at showing who answered what. What it does not do is talk with a student who got the item wrong and find out why. In a 30-student class the teacher sees that eleven students missed the fraction question, and the eleven reasons stay hidden.
That is the gap Coeducate covers. Students explain their step to an AI tutor that asks questions and does not hand over the answer, and the teacher gets a card naming the misconception in the student's words. Schools use it in intervention blocks and in the online minutes after school or at home, which is the subject of our online math intervention programs page. The two products sit side by side: Nearpod for the whole-class lesson, the tutor for the students who still miss afterward.
Our prices are on the pricing page: $89 a month for one teacher with up to 60 students, or $3,480 a year for a school of up to 600 students, about $5.80 per student. For the other programs in the same budget, see our articles on IXL cost per student and Zearn cost, and the Tier 2 math intervention programs page for how the tutor runs as one station in a small group block.
If your teachers want one tool to present interactive lessons across every subject, with a large ready-made library, VR field trips and live checks for understanding, buy Nearpod. We do not build lessons, we do not present slides and we cover math and reading only. If more than 20 teachers in a building already pay for Gold out of pocket, a school license is almost certainly the cheaper way to give them what they have.
Nearpod Silver has no charge, Gold is $159 a year and Platinum is $397 a year for an individual teacher. Schools and districts pay by quote. Public district quotes from 2021 to 2025 show Premium Plus at about $3 to $7 per student a year, with add-ons such as Flocabulary priced on top.
On the quotes we read, Premium Plus cost $3.11 to $6.53 per student a year after discounts, against list prices of about $4.50 to $8.95. A first-year pilot in California came in at $2.50. Add-ons at Utah's rates add $1.60 to $5 per student.
Students never pay for Nearpod. They join a lesson with a code from the teacher. The cost sits with the teacher's plan or the school's license, and only the School and District tier gives students their own accounts.
Yes. Renaissance Learning bought Nearpod in 2021 for about $650 million, and recent board approvals name Renaissance Learning as the vendor. Renaissance also owns Flocabulary through Nearpod, which bought it in 2019.
Yes. The district quotes we read show discounts from about 10 percent off list on the Durham quote to nearly half off list on the Connections Academy quote. Multi-year terms lock the rate for up to three years. Pilots start low and step up in years two and three.
