Does it just give students the answers?
No. The default tutor mode is Socratic hints: the next move is a question that makes the student do the thinking, and it does not contain the corrected value or the finished step. There is a second mode, Full worked explanation, for the moment a student is genuinely stuck or a teacher wants a model answer. You can switch between the two in the demo on the homepage and read the difference in the output yourself.
Is our students' work used to train AI models?
No. Student work is not used to train models, it is not sold, and it is not used for advertising. Records are deletable on request. This is a product decision rather than a setting, which is why it is stated the same way on the pricing page and in the terms.
Are you FERPA and COPPA compliant?
The honest answer is that Coeducate is designed around those obligations rather than certified against them. School-controlled data, minimum necessary collection, no direct marketing to minors, no training on student work. What we do not have is a completed third-party audit, a compliance seal or a signed state data protection agreement in place today. The student privacy page states exactly which of those exist and which do not.
Does it work with our curriculum, or only yours?
Yours. Coeducate reads the work your students produce from the material you already teach. There is no content library you have to adopt first, which is the usual reason an AI tutoring pilot stalls in a curriculum committee.
How is this different from Khanmigo or ChatGPT?
The unit of output. A general chat product produces a transcript, and a transcript is not progress data. A content platform produces progress inside its own scope and sequence. Coeducate produces a per-skill mastery record over your material, with the student's own reasoning quoted as the evidence. The comparison table on the homepage sets out the category differences.
How much extra work does this add for teachers?
None by design. The evidence card is a by-product of the session the student already did. Nobody enters scores, nobody schedules an assessment window, and nobody transcribes anything. The teacher opens a card and gets the misconception, the mastery read and a five-minute reteach.
What does it cost, and can we be invoiced?
Classroom is $89/mo, School is $349/mo and District is $1,290/mo, with annual billing about 17% lower. District and Enterprise can be invoiced against a purchase order. Enterprise adds custom terms and a data protection agreement review. Full detail is on the pricing page.
Can we start with one classroom?
Yes. The Classroom tier exists for exactly that: one teacher, up to 60 students, no committee. Most schools that end up on the School tier start by proving the evidence card is useful in a single intervention block.
What happens right after I sign up?
You confirm your email with a 6-digit code, and then we email you the next steps for getting your class, school or tutoring program set up. There is no automated provisioning and no queue position, because inventing either would be the first thing we told you that was not true.
- What subjects are supported?
- Math, reading and science at launch, across grades 3 to 12. Each has its own skill vocabulary rather than a shared generic one, which is why reading can separate decoding from inference instead of reporting both as "comprehension".
- Can students use it without a teacher present?
- Yes. That is the homework and independent practice case. The Socratic default is what makes unsupervised use produce information rather than destroy it.
- What if the diagnosis is wrong?
- It will sometimes be wrong, in the same way a human grader is sometimes wrong. Every skill row carries the evidence line it was based on, so a teacher can check the reasoning in about five seconds and override it.
- Does it grade or assign scores?
- It produces a mastery read per skill, not a grade. Grades belong to the teacher and to your grading policy. See the AI grading tool page for how the two relate.
- How long does a card take to produce?
- A few seconds after the session, which is why it can appear before the student has left the room.
- Does it work on phones and Chromebooks?
- Yes. It runs in the browser with no install, which is the only workable answer for a shared device cart.
- What languages does it support?
- English at launch. Additional languages are a roadmap item and we will not pretend otherwise on a pricing table.
- Can we see what our students submitted?
- Yes, within the roles you configure. Teachers see their own students, coaches see a cohort on the District tier, and the audit log records who looked at what.
