SchoolAI pricing: what SchoolAI costs a school or district

Short answer: SchoolAI does not publish a price. Its pricing page lists three plans, Free Trial, Pro and Scale, and not one of them carries a dollar figure. The Free Trial is limited to 5 Space launches per year. Pro and Scale, the plans schools and districts actually buy, are sold by quote after a demo. Any SchoolAI price you see on a review site is an estimate, not a number SchoolAI has published.

Why you cannot find a SchoolAI price online

Because SchoolAI has chosen not to print one. The page is titled "Pricing for Every District", and that phrase is the explanation: the unit price depends on how many students and schools you bring, which integrations you need and whether you want student portals. A single middle school and a district of 40,000 students will not get the same per-student number, so the vendor quotes instead.

That leaves a gap that review sites fill. Search for SchoolAI pricing and you will find confident figures: a Pro plan at $14.99 per month, an "education plan" from $50 per month, or Pro "from $5 per student per year". None of those numbers appear on SchoolAI's pricing page. Some look like leftovers from an older consumer-style plan, and others are guesses copied between blogs. If you are writing a budget line, do not use them. The quote is the only figure your business office can defend.

How much does SchoolAI cost for a school?

You will not know until you take the demo, but you can walk into that call with anchors. Three comparable products do publish prices, and they give you a sensible range to judge a quote against.

What pushes a SchoolAI quote up

Read the plan columns as a list of cost drivers. The jump from Pro to Scale is where student-facing access arrives: Student Portals, the AI Sidekick, student uploads and the Canvas-embedded Sidekick. If your plan is teacher-launched Spaces during class, Pro may cover it. If you want students to reach an AI assistant on their own, at any hour, you are being quoted for Scale.

Integration is the other driver. SIS rostering and full LMS integration sit in Pro, and custom standards mapping and district custom instructions sit in Scale. Every one of those needs your IT team's time as well as a line in the quote, so ask how long rostering takes on your SIS before you compare totals.

Funding can offset some of it. SchoolAI states that it is "ESSA Level III validated, qualifying for Title I, II, III, and IV-A federal funds", and lists FERPA, COPPA and SOC 2 Type 2 compliance plus 1EdTech certification. Those are real procurement advantages, and they are exactly the paperwork a large district asks for first. Ask for the ESSA study and the SOC 2 report under NDA, since your federal programs office will want both on file.

What you are actually buying

SchoolAI is built around Spaces: a teacher designs a learning environment, sets the rules, and students work inside it with an AI that responds within those limits. Mission Control shows the teacher what is happening across the class while it happens. It is a flexible, teacher-controlled platform with a very large premade library, and the Free Trial lets a teacher see the model before anyone talks about money.

Flexibility cuts both ways. A Space does whatever the teacher designs it to do, so the quality of what you get depends on the time teachers put into building and reviewing Spaces. Schools with a strong instructional technology coach tend to get the most from it.

Be precise about the job before you buy a platform at all. If what a teacher needs is one narrow task, say a way to turn a lesson video into a quiz with answer explanations, a single-purpose tool does it without a district procurement cycle. Platforms earn their price when the need is ongoing and shared across staff.

Read that table as written. SchoolAI wins on compliance paperwork, on a stated evidence rating that unlocks federal funds, on library size and on district rollout tooling. Plenty of districts should buy it. Where it does not answer is the intervention meeting: which specific skill a student is missing, on which date, with the evidence attached. 1. Is the quote per student, per teacher or per building, and what happens when enrollment changes mid-year?
2. Which of our goals needs Scale rather than Pro, and what is the price difference between the two for us?
3. Is the unit price fixed across a multi-year agreement, or does it reset at renewal?
4. How long does SIS rostering take on our system, and who does the work?
5. Can we see the ESSA Level III study and the SOC 2 Type 2 report before procurement?
6. After eight weeks, what does the report show about what a student learned, rather than how often they used it?

The last question usually decides renewals. Usage reports tell you a tool was opened. They do not tell you that a student who could not find an author's central claim in September can find it in November.
