Edgenuity cost: how much does Edgenuity cost per student, and Edgenuity pricing for schools

Short answer: Imagine Learning does not publish an Edgenuity price, but public district quotes show what schools pay. In 2024-25 Santa Barbara Unified paid $24,750 per comprehensive high school for an Imagine EdgeEX with Edgenuity 9-12 Comprehensive Site License and $10,000 per continuation or alternative school. Lee's Summit R-7 in Missouri signed a three-year renewal for 65 concurrent users at $144,115, which works out to about $721 per concurrent seat per year. Where Edgenuity's own teachers deliver the course, public agreements show about $225 to $250 per semester course per student.

Imagine Learning's Edgenuity page lists 6-12 courseware, initial credit and credit recovery, and a catalog of more than 400 courses, then ends at Contact Us. Every quote we read also carries a line saying the pricing is confidential and may not be shared without Imagine Learning's written consent. Once a quote sits in a public board packet, though, it is a public record. The figures below come from those packets, each one linked and read in September 2026. How much does Edgenuity cost per student? The public documents

Only a few documents print unit prices. The rest print a quantity and a total, which is still enough to test a quote against.

One more document is worth knowing about for its size. Savannah-Chatham County Schools in Georgia approved a sole source purchase of Edgenuity comprehensive site licenses and online tutoring for 2024-25 on June 5, 2024. The item states $463,418.94 in its body and $436,418.94 in the resolution. The two numbers do not match, so treat it as roughly $440,000 to $460,000 and nothing more precise.

Edgenuity pricing by license type

The license type moves the price more than anything else on the quote. These are the five we found, and what each one is good for.

Suwannee County's 2018-19 agreement also shows a course-only fee of $45 per course when Edgenuity's teachers teach it and $20 when the district's own teachers do. It is older than the other documents, so use it for the shape of the fee rather than the level.

How much does Edgenuity cost per class?

If Imagine Learning's teachers teach the class, the public agreements put it at about $225 to $250 per student per semester course, before any platform license. If your own teachers teach it, there is no per-class price. You pay for the license, and the cost per class depends on how many students use it. A $24,750 site license at a high school where 300 students each take two semester courses is about $41 per course. The same license with 50 students taking one course each is about $495 per course.

The $350 to $1,200 per class figures on some review and homeschool sites do not appear in any Imagine Learning document we read. One widely shown $150 per half credit figure comes from a page about a different provider. Do not budget from any of them.

What the quote terms say

• Confidentiality. Each quote says its pricing is confidential and may not be shared with third parties without Imagine Learning's written consent. Your state's public records law decides what that means for a board packet, not the quote.
• Enrollment audits. The quotes say Imagine Learning will audit enrollment counts during the year and bill for any overage. Size the seat count to your peak term, not your average.
• Multi-year discounts show up as a lower renewal. Lee's Summit paid $50,372 in year 1 and $46,871.50 in each of the next two years. Year one carried the onsite PD day.
• Add-ons are separate lines. Academic Integrity ($2,827.50 at Santa Barbara), PD webinars ($750 each at Santa Barbara), plagiarism checking, tutoring and eDynamic electives are priced on their own.

Comparing two quotes line by line is easier with the numbers in a spreadsheet. If the quotes arrived as PDFs, you can pull the line items out of a PDF quote into Excel and put them side by side instead of retyping them.

Edgenuity cost for a 600-student high school, three ways

Here is one school modeled with the public rates above. It is our arithmetic, not a quote, and it assumes 90 students in credit recovery across the year with no more than 35 working at once.

The site license and the concurrent seats land in the same place at this size. The concurrent model gets cheaper fast if the lab has 20 chairs instead of 35. Paying for Imagine Learning's teachers roughly doubles the bill, and it only makes sense where you cannot staff a teacher of record.

Six questions to ask before you sign the Edgenuity quote

1. What is the unit price on each line? Several quotes print only the quantity and the total.
2. Is this a site license, concurrent users or per enrollment, and what did our peak concurrent use look like last year?
3. How is overage billed after the enrollment audit, and at what rate?
4. What does year two and year three cost if we sign for three years now?
5. Is Academic Integrity or plagiarism checking already included, or a separate line?
6. Which PD is required, and can it be a webinar instead of an onsite day?

Where Edgenuity is the better buy, and where it is not

Buy Edgenuity, or another courseware catalog, when the job is credit: a student needs to finish Algebra 1 or English 10 for a transcript, and you need a full course with a teacher of record. Coeducate does not sell courses, does not grant credit and has no course catalog. If that is the gap, it is the wrong purchase.

The other job is diagnosis. A credit recovery dashboard shows lessons completed and quiz scores. It does not show why a student keeps failing the same equation or which reading skill breaks on a central idea question. That is what Coeducate does. A student answers a question from the course and explains the step, the tutor asks the next question instead of giving the answer, and each session ends with a dated record naming the misconception per skill. Does Edgenuity include teachers?

Only if you buy Instructional Services. The license alone gives your own teachers the courses to run. Imagine Learning's certified teachers are a separate line, priced at about $225 to $250 per semester course per student on the public agreements we found, and higher for full-time students.

Is there a tool for schools that publishes its price?
