AI homework help that does not do the homework
Students already have AI homework help. The question is no longer whether to allow it, but what shape of help you are willing to defend at a parent meeting.
ExploreLearning took the prices off the Reflex buy page. The NCII chart, a Rockford order form and a 2026 renewal notice show what a school and a district pay.

Short answer: a Reflex Math School Site License costs about $3,300 a year for one school. The National Center on Intensive Intervention lists it at $3,295 per school per year, and Rockford Public Schools was quoted $3,363.65 per site in 2024 before a 10 percent bundle discount. That works out to roughly $6 to $16 per student a year, depending on enrollment. A home license costs $54.95 per student a year.
ExploreLearning no longer prints a price on the Reflex buy page. All three options, the School Site License, the Teacher License and the Home User License, now end in "Get Quote" or a link to a partner site. The numbers still exist in public records, because school boards approve these quotes in open meetings and evidence clearinghouses list them. We read the Reflex buy page, the NCII tools chart, a Rockford order form, a 2026 ExploreLearning renewal notice and the Reflex grant page. Coeducate is not affiliated with ExploreLearning, and Reflex and Frax are trademarks of their owner. We sell a different kind of product, and the last section says plainly where Reflex is the better buy.
| License | What it covers | Price | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| School Site License | One year for all targeted teachers and students in one school, classroom and building reports, 90-minute webinar training | $3,295 per school per year (listed), $3,363.65 per site (2024 quote) | NCII tools chart, Rockford quote Q-322147 |
| Teacher License | One year for a teacher and their students, classroom reports | Quote only, minimum 10 seats | Reflex buy page |
| District license | Multiple schools on one agreement | Quote only, volume pricing | Reflex buy page, NCII |
| Home User License (Time4MathFacts) | One year for a parent or tutor and their students | $54.95 per student per year | Time4MathFacts |
| Educator grant | One classroom of up to 40 students for the 2026-2027 school year | No charge to selected teachers, described as a "$2,100+ value" | Reflex grant page |
The buy page says prices are annual and in US dollars, and that "volume and small school pricing" is available on the site license. That line matters. A school with 150 students and a school with 700 students do not have to pay the same $3,295, so ask for the small school price if you are near the bottom of the range.
Reflex is not sold at a published per-student rate for schools, so the per-student cost depends on how many students use the site license. Reflex is designed for grades 2 to 6, so count only those grades, not the whole building. Here is our arithmetic on the $3,295 list figure.
| Students in grades 2 to 6 using Reflex | Site license | Cost per student a year |
|---|---|---|
| 200 | $3,295 | about $16.48 |
| 300 | $3,295 | about $10.98 |
| 500 | $3,295 | about $6.59 |
| 40 (one classroom, grant value) | $2,100 | about $52.50 |
| 1 (home license) | $54.95 | $54.95 |
The classroom line is the useful warning. ExploreLearning values one classroom of 40 students at more than $2,100, which is over $50 a student. Buying Reflex teacher by teacher costs far more per student than the site license, so once three or four classrooms in a building want it, the site license is almost always the cheaper route.
The NCII academic intervention tools chart lists Reflex at $3,295.00 per school as the initial cost and $3,295.00 per school per year to renew. The chart notes that licenses range from per-student teacher licenses to site and district licenses, and that all of them include professional development.
The most detailed real quote we found is from Rockford Public Schools in Illinois. ExploreLearning proposal Q-322147, presented June 17, 2024 to the Director of Elementary Curriculum and valid until September 30, 2024, covered:
After the discount, each Reflex site came to about $3,027. The discount was applied to the whole order, which suggests the 10 percent came from buying Reflex and Frax together across many schools. A single school buying Reflex alone should expect the list price unless it asks. The Rockford board packet also holds the quote terms: prices exclude sales tax, the quote number must appear on the purchase order, and ExploreLearning's license terms override any terms printed on the district's own PO.
District pricing is quote only, but ExploreLearning's renewal paperwork shows how the discounts work. The clearest 2026 example is not a Reflex order. It is a renewal notice for ExploreLearning's science product, Gizmos, sent to Reach Cyber Charter School in Pennsylvania on June 2, 2026, and the same company prices Reflex.
| Term | Price for 5,500 students (Gizmos) | Per year | Saving |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 year | $39,050.00 | $39,050 | none |
| 2 years | $74,195.00 | $37,098 | $3,905 (5 percent) |
| 3 years | $105,435.00 | $35,145 | $11,715 (10 percent) |
If your district renews Reflex the same way, a three-year term takes about 10 percent off, and a two-year term about 5 percent. In the Rockford packet, a separate Gizmos quote for 6,600 students listed $32,670.00 and then took $7,099.60 off, so the discount on a first purchase can run well past 10 percent. Ask for the multi-year price in writing before the one-year renewal arrives.
One more thing will look different on 2026 paperwork. Since October 15, 2025, ExploreLearning products are sold and invoiced by the parent company LAZEL, Inc., which also owns Learning A-Z, and the combined business now uses the ExploreK12 name. If your business office cannot match a Reflex invoice to last year's vendor record, that is why.
No, Reflex is not free for schools. There is a free 30-day educator trial, a free pilot of 30 days or more for two or more classrooms, and an educator grant that gives selected teachers in grades 2 to 6 one classroom of up to 40 students for a school year at no cost. After that, a school pays for a teacher or site license, and families pay $54.95 per student a year through Time4MathFacts.
Reflex does one job: math fact fluency for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The NCII chart describes the recommended use as about 15 to 20 minutes a day, three days a week, until a student reaches 100 percent fluency, and ExploreLearning builds it for grades 2 to 6. For that job it is a well-researched product, and fact fluency really does free up working memory for harder problems.
What a fluency program does not touch is the student who knows 7 times 8 cold and still fails the word problem because they set up the fraction upside down, or added when the problem called for a ratio. Frax covers fractions and is priced separately, at about $2,678 a site in the Rockford quote. Multi-step problem solving in grades 4 to 8 is a different purchase, and it is where most state test items are lost once facts are in place. Our elementary math intervention programs page sorts these categories by what each one actually fixes.
Pricing other math renewals for the same budget? We used the same public-records method for DeltaMath PLUS cost for schools, ST Math cost per school and Zearn pricing for schools.
If your grade 3 and 4 students are counting on their fingers, buy Reflex or another fact fluency program. Coeducate is not a fact fluency program. It does not run timed drills, games or fluency tracking, and we would not suggest using it for that.
Coeducate is for the next problem: the student whose facts are fine but who keeps missing the same multi-step standard. The student types the steps, the AI tutor coaches with a hint aimed at the step that broke instead of giving the answer, and the teacher gets a card that names the skill, with the student's own work as evidence. Schools run it in the intervention block for grades 3 and up, often in the same buildings that use Reflex for warm-ups. The math intervention software for middle school page shows the full routine.
Coeducate's prices are public on the pricing page: $528 a year for one teacher and up to 60 students on the annual Classroom plan, or $2,088 a year for a school of up to 600 students, about $3.48 per student. Most schools buy it as an addition to a fluency program, not a replacement.
A Reflex School Site License is listed at $3,295 per school per year, and a 2024 Rockford quote priced it at $3,363.65 per site before a 10 percent discount. ExploreLearning offers volume and small school pricing, so the final price depends on enrollment and how many schools buy together.
The home version, sold through Time4MathFacts, costs $54.95 per student per year. It gives a parent or tutor the same games and fluency reports for their own students. Schools do not buy through this route.
Yes. The Teacher License covers one teacher and their students for a year, with a minimum purchase of 10 seats. ExploreLearning no longer publishes the price, so it is quote only. Its own grant values one classroom of up to 40 students at more than $2,100.
Yes. The free educator trial lasts 30 days. After it ends, a school needs a Teacher License or a Site License to keep students playing, and families need the $54.95 home license. Selected teachers can get one free classroom for a school year through the Reflex educator grant.
ExploreLearning still makes Reflex, but since October 15, 2025 its products are sold and invoiced by its parent company, LAZEL, Inc., which also owns Learning A-Z. The combined business uses the ExploreK12 name. Orders still go to ExploreLearning sales at 866-882-4141.
